Since opening in November, 2003, the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of the population of 350,000 in four surrounding districts. Prior to 2003, the nearest hospital was located 1.5 hours away in Allahabad. To date, 60 full time volunteer medical and support staff have served the medical needs of 250,000 adults and children and distribute $72,000 worth of free medicines every year. The nine staff physicians and three visiting physicians provide a full range of medical services including: Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat (JKP), founded by Kripaluji Maharaj, is an international nonprofit, religious, educational and charitable organization registered in India under Section 12 (A) of the I.T. Act. Centers of JKP have been providing charity to poor rural communities for the last 20 years through Eye Camps, Cardiac Camps, disaster relief, feeding the poor and gifting essential items such as clothing and blankets. JKP Barsana Dham is the main U.S. center of JKP. Founded by H.D. Swami Prakashanand Saraswati in 1990, it is a center of religious and cultural heritage for Hindus throughout the U.S. JKP Barsana Dham was registered in 1983 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
